About Andrea Locatelli
Italian motorcyclist Andrea Locatelli was born in Alzano Lombardo on October 16, 1996. He is presently with Yamaha in the Superbike World Championship. He is the world champion of Supersport of 2020. Locatelli was the 2013 CIV Moto3 Champion in addition to winning the 2012 Italian Honda NSF250R Trophy in 2013.
Locatelli received two wild cards for the 2013 Moto3 World Championship, one each for the races in San Marino and Italy. Despite this, he did not receive any points, placing 22nd and 25th.
Locatelli moved to Moto2 for the 2017 season, competing for Kalex's Italtrans squad. Locatelli only finished in the points three times during the season, totaling eight points.
Locatelli and Mattia Pasini both remained with the Italtrans squad for the 2018 campaign. Once more, Pasini prevailed in a race and scored 141 points, while Locatelli had a difficult day, scoring 52 points and setting a season-high eighth place in his native Italy.
At Italtrans, Andrea Locatelli teammate for the 2019 Moto2 season was Enea Bastianini. After Locatelli finished with 46 points and took second place with 97 points, Bastianini was not extended by the club.
Yamaha Motor Company made Andrea Locatelli an offer to compete in the Supersport class for the 2020 season. Riding the Yamaha YZF-R6, Locatelli had a stellar debut season, winning 12 of the 15 races, including the first nine, placing on the podium 13 times, and only suffering one DNF. In the overall rankings, he defeated Lucas Mahias, who came in second, by 104 points.
He advanced to the Superbike World Championship in 2021 and rode with Toprak Razgatlioglu for Yamaha. Throughout the season, Locatelli finished in third position on four podiums.
